COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council recognized one of the city’s biggest supporters of recreational activities on the occasion of his retirement from the Recreation Board. Fred Hobart was first appointed to the board in 1977, while still teaching and coaching at Coldwater High School, and has served the board continuously for 38 years. In his remarks to the Council at Monday night’s meeting, Hobart talked about how the city’s Recreation Department has grown and prospered over the past four decades, citing the fulfillment of one of his long-standing dreams – the establishment of an indoor aquatic center and expanded indoor recreation facilities.
Hobart thanked fellow Rec Board members Pat Lewis, Mark Robison, John Parshall, and Rosie Rial for their love for recreation and the City of Coldwater. He concluded by thanking Mayor Tom Kramer for the privilege of serving.
