COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There was a slowdown in traffic along U.S. 12 on Coldwater’s west side last night for about 3 hours. Motorists had to detour around a 5 block stretch of the roadway because of an hydraulic oil spill from a truck.
The main part of the leak occurred between Polk and Munson streets. It was reported shortly after 6 p.m. and all lanes of U.S. 12 were re-opened around 9:10 p.m.
The Coldwater Fire Department hazardous materials team responded to the scene and the city Department of Municipal Services Street Department worked as well with the clean-up effort. No information was available on exactly how much of the oil leaked.
