COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Just ahead of the July 4th holiday weekend, gas prices in Branch County and arund the state have jump up to $2.99 a gallon. GasBuddy.com’s Patrick DeHaan says it’s the economy in Europe, not the holiday weekend or the fuel distributors, that’s to blame as Greece is on the verge of default.
DeHaan says wholesale gas prices, which is what the stations pay, has been fluctuating and oil prices fell sharply yesterday. He says when oil prices drop on the same day retail prices rise, typically the price at the pump starts to retreat fairly quickly. DeHaan believes the prices will be lower within the next few days.
