Also in high school sports, the Michigan High School Athletic Association each year requires a so-called “Summer Dead Period”, a time of 7 full consecutive calendar days after school is out in June and after a school’s participation in MHSAA tournaments is finished. Each school sets its own seven day dead period and for Coldwater high school this summer it runs from tomorrow, July 3 through July 10.
For the week beginning on Friday, there is to be no involvement or contact by the school or coach with students in grades 7 to 12 in any MHSAA tournament sports. It is a zero coach-player period at school or elsewhere with no school or coach conducted open gyms, conditioning or weight lifting programs on school premises or sponsored by the school or coach at other facilities.
