COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Community Schools officials are on the fast track to try and get a new artificial surface football field installed at the high school by the opening game August 28. The money for the field replacement, as well as renovating the track, seating, and the press box, is being provided by a gift from the Larsen Unitrust, established by the late Coldwater automotive dealer Max Larsen. Some of the work from the $1 million gift will be completed this spring and summer, with the rest done next year.
A pre-bid meeting was held with contractors last week and bids for the renovation and replacement project are due this Wednesday, July 8 by 3:00 p.m. The Coldwater varsity football team is scheduled to open its season at home Friday, August 28 against Hasting.
