COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Another great fund raising success yesterday for the Coldwater Cardinal Athletic Booster Club with their annual Dave Storrs Memorial Golf Outing at the Coldwater Golf Course. In the 15th year of the event, the Booster Club, the coaches and the athletes expressed a big thank you yesterday to the 108 golfers and the numerous sponsors who helped this year raise over $15,400 with all proceeds going towards Coldwater Athletic programs.
The Booster Club was organized more than 2 decades ago to help in the funding of events, programs and items that the local school budget could not support.
In yesterday’s golf competition, the winners were, beginning with the Men’s Division, in first place, the foursome of Ryan Kinsey, Billy Kinsey, Bryan Wible, and John Rakocy. Taking first place in the Women’s Division were Michelle Sheppard, Susan White, Pam White, and Sue Crabtree. And in the Mixed Division, the first place team was Rick Gates, Jessica Welch, Dustin Burritt, and Kevin Boguth. The closest to the pin winners were Dave Rumsey, Ed Malovey, and LeeAnne Nagle.
Over the past 5 years, the Booster Club has purchased equipment and improved facilities at Coldwater High School and Legg Middle School totaling over $200,000. Dave Storrs was a longtime member of the Athletic Boosters and broadcast high school basketball, football, baseball, and softball games for a number of years on WTVB.
