COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater teenager today will be attempting to break an existing Guinness World Record by solving more than 28 Rubik’s cubes while riding a unicycle. 14-year old Stuart Sobeske makes the effort at the Branch County Memorial Airport in the 9 a.m. event. Stuart has been riding unicycles for about two years and has been keenly interested in Rubik’s cube puzzles for the past year. The current record was set in 2010 in Belfast Ireland. The Guiness World Record authorities accepted an application from Sobeske in June. Branch County District Court Judge Brent Weigle assisted by members of the Coldwater Police Department were enlisted to verify the cube scrambling and attempt while the Branch County Memorial Airport board of directors agreed to close a portion one runway for the event.
Stuart is a freshman at Coldwater High School. His interests also include piano, trumpet, computer programming and he is a member of Boy Scout Troop 433. The location of the attempt is the east end of the Branch County Memorial Airport, near the new terminal building with attendance by the public encouraged.
