COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was a quick decision last night for the Coldwater City Planning Commission to recommend in favor of rezoning property on the city’s west side for a proposed 30 acre RV park. The commission, at its regular monthly meeting for August, received no comments at a public hearing in support or opposition to the request from George and Gladys Thompson of Coldwater to rezone their property off Race Street for the project and voted 7-0 to advance their approval to the Coldwater City Council.
The land would be reclassified from R2 residential to AA one family agricultural residential. The Thompson’s have plans to develop a 176 lot commercial recreational vehicle park. City staff recommended approval of the rezoning for the property adjacent to South Lake and behind the city’s south industrial park. City planners say commercial and industrial development is expected to continue in that part of the city and in Coldwater Township as well.
The City Council next Monday is expected to introduce an ordinance amendment on the rezoning for first reading and then hold a second reading and consider adoption of the amended ordinance on September 14, 2015.
