COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – In Branch County high school sports, the 2015 fall season schedule got started yesterday with Coldwater Girls golf and the Lady Cardinals finished seventh out of 12 teams at the Jackson Northwest Invitational. Coldwater had a team score of 456 in the tournament at the Hankerd Hills Golf Course while Lansing Catholic Central won the event with a 392. Leading Coldwater with a 107 was Madison Donbrock. The Lady Cardinals are back in action tomorrow with the Western Invitational at the Arbor Hills Golf Course.
Today in high school sports, there’s just one event with the Bronson Boys tennis team at home against Pennfield. It’s a busy schedule coming up for the weekend with several season openers for county teams tomorrow and Saturday in boys soccer, volleyball, and cross country.
The Michigan High School Athletic Association says that Michigan remains seventh nationally in high school sports participation, based on numbers from the 2014-2015 academic year. It’s the seventh straight year that Michigan has been seventh in the survey conducted by the National Federation of State High School Associations. There were over 295 thousand students participating in Michigan high school sports this past season.
