COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater fits the location where credit card skimmers might attempt to set up shop at a local gas station near I-69 and steal your identity and money. It hasn’t happen yet locally but for the second time a skimmer has been found attached to a gas pump in West Michigan, this time at a Citgo Station in Kent County. The first ones were found at a gas station near Dowagiac a few weeks ago.
Police agencies say they are most likely to be located on pumps furthest from the clerks and the cameras, and usually at gas stations on major interstates. Some pumps will have security tapes that will only be broken if the pump has been opened.
Speaking of gas prices, while Michigan is still stuck up closer to $3 a gallon because of those refinery issues at Whiting, Indiana, some parts of the U.S. are beginning to see prices dip below $2 a gallon as predicted by Gas Buddy a few weeks ago. Patrick Dehaan says we will catch up, but not for a few weeks.
