QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – School security is on everyone’s priority list as a new class year starts and in Quincy, there are new building security systems in place. The improvements were made possible with the passage last spring of a pair of bond issues.
Quincy Community Schools Superintendent Craig Artist says the construction projects included placing secure vestibules in the main entrance of the buildings with an updated protocol to let parents and students in and on their release as well. According to Artist, the administration is getting feedback on the changes and says they are working out the bugs and it’s beginning to run more smoothly. The same can be said of the new traffic patterns around the school buildings.
Artist says one of the major construction projects may only be halfway done, a new gymnasium, but they remain hopeful it will be finished by the end of December.
