COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater High School this week is celebrating the announcement that 35 CHS students were named as Advanced Placement scholars following the 2014-2015 academic school year. AP Scholars are recognized by the College Board, the national organization that annually produces AP tests throughout the United States and the world.
AP tests are standardized tests in 22 different academic disciplines given in May. Students receiving a score of “3” or above generally receive college credit at the school of their choice.
Students at Coldwater High School passed tests in all ten of the school’s offered AP courses which include English Language, English Literature, European History, Psychology, U.S Government & Politics, U.S. History, Calculus AB, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Many of those who made the list graduated in the class of 2015.
A fourth of those who made the grade were named AP Scholars with Distinction, students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more exams. Those students are Kumaran Arivoli, George Beeman, Mara Bockheim, Zachary DeMeester, Austin Hodson, Jessica Leviton, Daniel Shirkey, Brendan Spangler, and Darina Wellet.
