COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Tom Kolassa, a native of Coldwater, is giving back to the community with a donation of $50,000 to the Tennis Court Renovation Fund within the Branch County Community Foundation.
“Coldwater is important in my life, and tennis played a significant role,” states Kolassa. Kolassabegan playing tennis as a boy, playing all 4 years at Coldwater High School. He then went on toplay an undefeated season at Kellogg Community College, and played 3 additional years atOlivet College while pursuing his undergraduate degree. “I’ve met good people through tennis.The lessons I learned playing have served me well.”
Kolassa has had a successful career in the insurance industry, including owning and growingInfinisource, Inc. in Coldwater. He has served as Mayor of Battle Creek and Chair of BinderPark Zoo, and he is currently serving on the Board of Directors for Starr Commonwealth, theBoard of Directors for Southern Michigan Bank and Trust, and as Chair of Olivet College Boardof Trustees.
“We are thrilled to have Tom participate in such a meaningful way,” says Dr. David Rubley, chairof the fundraising committee for the project. “It is generous for him to give back to thiscommunity.” Kolassa’s donation will go toward the construction of 10 new post-tension concrete courts scheduled to begin summer 2016. The committee is working to reach their fundraising goal of$800,000 by January 31, 2016.
