COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater High School senior has been named Queen for the 2016 Quincy Chain of Lakes Tip-Up Festival. Shayla Ford received a $1,000 scholarship for winning the title Saturday night at the Tibbits Opera House in Coldwater. It was part of $3,500 in scholarships handed out to the seven contestants in the pagent.
Kaitlyn Watz, also a senior at Coldwater, was named first runner-up and received a $750 scholarship, while Coldwater senior Brianna Hyde was second runner-up and received a $500 scholarship. Hyde also was named Most Photogenic.
Coldwater High senior Olivia Stempien won $500 for receiving the Terry Stephens Memorial Award, while Watz received $500 for winning the Tami Fickle Sparks Award. Watz also won the Spirit of Tip Up award.
Coldwater High sophomore Sara Hickey won both the Audience Choice and Academic Awards, while Quincy senior Shelby Gilbert won Miss Congeniality.
This year’s annual Tip Up Festival will be a one day event, Saturday, February 13.
