COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Pending approval by the State of Michigan, Steve Spyker has been chosen as the new Branch County Building Inspector.
Spyker was introduced by Branch County Administrator Bud Norman during Monday nights Branch County Township Supervisors’ Association meeting.
Steve Buller gave his two weeks notice as County Building Inspector in late February.
A back up inspector has not been hired yet. Norman, who serves as the director of the Building Inspection Department, said Buller has agreed to stay on until Spyker can get on board.
Buller came under fire in January as over a dozen building contractors told Branch County Commissioners they had various issues with him.
Buller was contracted by the Building Inspection Department and was not directly employed by the county.
The department became part-time after the 2008 recession.
