COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council will review a 12 year industrial facilities tax abatement request from Clemens Food Group on Monday night and schedule a public hearing for April 11th on the application.
City Assessor Debra Sikorski says the overall investment by Clemens for their facility on Newton Road is over $91 million.
She adds Clemens has no abatement yet on the real estate or the machinery and equipment. The taxation is over $2.3 million on the tentative assessment roll.
The project is expected to create 644 jobs over the next two years.
Also on Monday’s agenda is a public hearing on an industrial facilities tax abatement request from UPC Transport on Industrial Avenue.
The company is seeking a 12 year abatement on the real property portion and a six year abatement on the personal property component.
UPC is hoping their investment of over $744,000 will lead to the hiring of two additional workers while potentially retaining two other employees.
