PENNFIELD TOWNSHIP (WTVB) – An investigation into a counterfeit $100 bill being used to buy shoes in the Sturgis area led to a Calhoun County drug bust on Friday.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says the shoe transaction was arranged on Facebook.
The victim said he recognized the currency was fake and followed the suspects to a residence on Coolidge near North Avenue in Pennfield Township.
When police arrived, a 42-year-old Battle Creek man tried to run away from a deputy but was arrested several blocks away.
Police say he was in possession of heroin and cocaine and had numerous warrants for his arrest.
Two other suspects in their early 20s were arrested and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail. The shoes in question were located inside the house and returned to their owner. The names of the individuals are being withheld at this time pending arraignment.
