COLDWAYER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council is scheduled to consider the sale of two vacant lots during their meeting on Monday evening.
Community Services Director and Assistant City Manager Keith Baker said last month the city has gotten an offer from an adjacent property owner to buy the lot at 67 West Alden Street. A home on the site was demolished in 2013 as part of a state blight elimination program.
A deed restriction is being placed on the site to restrict the type of garage that can be built. The current zoning ordinance will not allow for the construction of a single family home.
The second vacant lot on tonight’s agenda is located at 141 Cutter Avenue. Baker says a $1,000 purchase offer has been made by Branch County Habitat for Humanity so that they can build a new single family residence.
A home at the location was demolished in 2014. Habitat for Humanity would take over the mowing of the property and be responsible for annual property taxes.
