COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man is facing three charges after a domestic assault at a Bethel Township residence last Saturday led to an alleged threat against a Michigan State Police trooper.
33-year-old Kipp Douglas Staley is facing felony charges of resisting police and possession of marijuana as well as a misdemeanor for domestic violence.
According to Branch County court documents, Staley allegedly refused the troopers order to take his hands out of pockets after police were called to the domestic incident. He was arrested after according to the report he took a box cutter out of his pocket.
Court records also indicate Staley is a repeat offender after being convicted in four cases between 2002 and 2012.
Bond has been set at $10,000. A probable cause hearing is scheduled for April 7th in Branch County District Court. A preliminary exam is set for April 14th.
