ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – Two registered sex offenders were arrested by Steuben County authorities on Friday.
The Steuben County Sheriff’s Department says 25-year-old Samuel Brett Smith was taken into custody without incident by Angola Police in the 600 block of North Wayne Street after they got a tip where they could find him. Smith was booked into the Steuben County Jail on a felony charge for failure to register as a sex or violent offender. He was wanted for not residing at his registered address as required by Indiana’s Sex and Violent Offender Registry law.
Also arrested on Friday was 27-year-old Nathan Thomas Rhymer of Angola who is facing two counts for allegedly not registering as a sex or violent offender. The charges were filed following a month long investigation into allegations that Rhymer failed to report to the Steuben County Sheriff required internet identifier information as well as other required information within the lawful time period.
