Hanover-Horton 5, Quincy 2
Injuries forced the Quincy Orioles to play with 10 players over the last 26 minutes as they were beaten by Hanover-Horton 5-2. Coach Tim Hart said “Our girls were playing tough out there. We only had 11 payers and those girls were playing with everything they had. Then at about the 26 minute mark, we lost another player who twisted her ankle, so we were down to 10 players. The girls were excellent tonight. We passed very well and had some good runs at goal. We never quit. I was very proud of the heart we showed. Eighty minutes is a long time for them to play with no subs”.
After Hanover-Horton opened the scoring, Julia Hildebrand scored to tie the match at 1-1. Hanover-Horton scored the next two goals to take a 3-1 halftime lead. The only second half goal for Quincy was scored by Cailyn Cook on an assist from Hannah Kaser after the Orioles were forced to go with 10 players.
The Orioles were outshot 21-8. Haley Askew had 10 saves in goal. Quincy is now 7-6-2 on the year and 3-4-2 in the conference. Quincy’s next game is Monday night against Jackson Christian which is parents night. The Orioles game Friday night has been cancelled.
