ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A nearly four year battle to put an adult nightclub in Angola is over.
Angola Mayor Dick Hickman says Alva Butler of Branch County, who bought a building during a 2012 auction with hopes of having a business there similar to ones he operates in Fort Wayne, has dropped a federal civil rights lawsuit against the city.
Butler and his company BBL Incorporated took Angola to court when his attempts to open an adult nightclub in the city were turned down on zoning and other issues.
Angola got a mostly favorable ruling from a District Court in South Bend in December of 2013 which was upheld last December by the 7th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals in Chicago.
