COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Board of Education members expressed their displeasure with the construction manager of the Cardinal Field football press box project on Monday night when they found out it may not be ready for the first home game on September 1, 2016.
CSM Group of Kalamazoo has been serving as the construction manager. Superintendent Terry Boguth said she was told the interior of the press box may not be ready and that scaffolding may have to be used for the media and coaches.
Board member Nick Krzeminski felt not only was the scaffolding a bad idea, it was a bad idea that the district was going “to sit back and let them dictate when this is going to be completed.”
High School Athletic Director Dianne Vandenhout said the game against Marshall would still be played at Cardinal Field. Last seasons home opener against Hastings had to be moved to Trine University in Angola because the installation of the new all purpose synthetic turf at Cardinal Field was not done in time.
Meanwhile, Krzeminski announced that the Administration Building on Sauk River Drive will soon go on the market following a recent meeting of the Building and Grounds Committee. He said they want to give someone in the community a chance to list the building.
Future plans call for the moving of the administration offices into the Lincoln Learning Center.
The board also approved a one year contract with the Coldwater Education Association for the 2016-17 school year. The deal includes a one percent salary increase with the possibility of another half percent increase.
