COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man who suffered severe burns in a meth lab explosion almost a year ago was told to serve 18 months of probation on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after entering guilty pleas to a pair of charges for operating and maintaining a meth lab.
Two other charges against Rayin Christopher Kenley were dismissed in exchange for his guilty pleas.
Judge Bill O’Grady also ordered Kenley to continue making appearances at local forums that deal with the dangers of drugs and to pursue his GED.
The judge felt Kenley’s medical condition would be a burden on the Branch County Sheriff’s Department. O’Grady told Kenley, “you’re an absolute medical mess.”
Kenley told the judge he regretted what he did and that he still had open wounds even after treatment at the U of M Medical Center. He was injured August 9, 2015 when a meth lab exploded in his lap while he was in a vehicle.
