BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – In addition to the failed countywide jail millage proposal, Tuesday’s primary included a handful of township and school district proposals.

A 4-year, 1 mill renewal in Union Township for fire protection and cemetery operation and maintenance was passed by a 4-to-1 margin, 237-64.
A pair of Calhoun County school districts whose borders stretch into Branch County had bond proposals on the ballot. Tekonsha’s 5-year renewal of its 18-mill operating millage was approved 196-73. Branch County voters in Girard and Butler Townships cast 44 “yes” votes and 18 “no” votes.
Athens Schools voters approved a 5-year, 18-mill operating millage renewal 373-152 and narrowly passed a 5-year, 3.5-mill building and site sinking fund levy 271-234. Branch County voters in Sherwood Township approved the first Athens proposal 13-5 and the second 10-0.
