TIPTON, MI (WTVB) – 7th District Republican Congressman Tim Walberg survived a primary challenge Tuesday as he defeated Doug North by an almost 3-1 margin. Walberg had 19,402 votes or 75 percent while North had 6,488 votes.
Walberg said in a statement “I remain committed to fighting for the people’s priorities and working to expand vocational education and training at the state level, strengthen our economy with more good-paying jobs, and protect our homeland from radical Islamic terrorism.”
Walberg will face Democrat Gretchen Driskell in the fall. She is giving up her 52nd district seat in the Michigan House in order to run for Congress. Before serving in the State House, Driskell was the Mayor of Saline for a record seven terms.
