COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A suspect who had been sought by police after two Coldwater officers as well as a patrol vehicle were struck October 25, 2016 was booked Thursday at the Branch County Jail.
35-year-old Brandon Eichler was booked on a warrant for fleeing and eluding, resisting a police officer, assaulting a police officer and damage to police property. He was being held on a $25,000 bond.
According to a Coldwater Police Department press release on the incident, officers responded to a medical call on the east side of the city.
Officers say they tried to get a man inside of a car to come outside after seeing suspected contraband in the passenger compartment. But the driver backed up and the officers were struck by one of the car doors. The officers were not injured.
The patrol unit was hit in the bumper and sustained minor damage according to Director of Public Safety Mark Bartell.
Eichler was listed as the registered owner of the car which drove off.
