BROOKLYN, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater finished fourth for the second straight year in the Division 2 MHSAA Boys Cross Country Finals on Saturday at Michigan International Speedway.
Shuaib Aljabaly earned a bronze medal and all-state honors as he finished third with a time of 15:45.1. Zack Murphy was 22nd while Jordan Parkinson was 35th, Ben Fagen was 42nd and Jacob Fair was 93rd.
Corunna won the team championship with 92 points followed by Fremont with 99, Grand Rapids Christian with 139, Coldwater with 195 and Otsego with 236.
Two Coldwater runners competed as individuals in the MHSAA Girls Cross Country State Finals. Kathy Potter was 95th while Elka Machan was 125th. They both recorded season-best performances.
Quincy finished 20th in the M.H.S.A.A. Division 3 Girls Cross Country finals. Gabby Porter was the top Quincy finisher as she was 32nd while Harmony Harpster was 68th. Xochitl Garcia of Bronson was 32nd in the individual standings.
Two Branch County boys ran as individuals. Quincy’s Nathan Nohr was 44th while Bronson’s Colin Ransbottom was 89th.
With the fall sports winding down, it’s time for the winter sports to get underway. girls basketball and competitive cheer tryouts for Michigan squads begin today. Practice for boys basketball, wrestling and bowling will get underway next Monday.
