COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy man who was accused of trying to set up a check kiting operation was given concurrent nine month sentences Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered guilty pleas to charges of attempted uttering and publishing and forgery.
28-year-old Rastravanti Dacosta was also ordered to pay Century Bank and Trust $650 in restitution and was placed on probation for three years.
DaCosta was given credit for 117 days already spent in the Branch County Jail.In exchange for the guilty pleas, three other charges were dismissed by prosecutors as part of a plea agreement.
It was mentioned in court on Monday that Dacosta has a criminal background in Illinois and California. His record includes two felony and six misdemeanor convictions
