PORTAGE, MI (WTVB) – The Bronson Vikings hope to punch their ticket for Kellogg Arena in Battle Creek tonight as the second ranked Vikings will face ninth ranked Laingsburg in the MHSAA Girls Volleyball Quarterfinals at Portage Central.
The winner advances to the state semifinals at Kellogg Arena for a 3:45 p.m. match Thursday afternoon against either Traverse City St. Francis or Calumet. The state Class C finals at Kellogg Arean will be at 12 noon Saturday.
WTVB AM 1590 and FM 95.5 will have live coverage of tonight’s quarterfinal match-up beginning at 6:45 p.m. The match will also be available on line at www.wtvbam.com.
—MIDDLE SCHOOL BOYS BASKETBALL—
The Legg Middle School 8th grade A team lost to Pennfield 56-39. Cayrin Thompson led the Cardinals with 12 points while Deandre Douglas added nine points.
The Legg Middle School 8th grade B team also lost to Pennfield 58-34. Legg was led by Kolby Wagoner with 14 points while Zakariga Saeed added nine points.
Both of the Legg Middle School seventh grade teams defeated Pennfield. The A team won 67-31 as their record improved to 3-1. Four Legg players finished in double figures led by Brandon Downs with 18 points. Downs also had four steals and four assists. Evan Sloan and Brock Thorton each had six rebounds.
The 7th grade B team is now 4-0 after they won 56-19 as Jett Galloway had 16 points and Gavin Budd added 10 points. Owen Tom had four rebounds, five steals and four assists.
