COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The City Coldwater has been selected for the 2016 Audit of Minimum Assessing Requirements. As part of the review, inspections will be conducted on a small number of properties within the city.
Owners of the selected properties will get a letter prior to any inspections. In addition, those performing the operations will be equipped with a State of Michigan Contractor ID badge which will be displayed at all times.
The State Tax Commission has contracted with Tax Management Associates to conduct the audit which is being held throughout the state.
The inspections are required to verify that the records used by the local unit assessor match what is physically located at the property.
Measurements of the exterior of the home are required as well as all structures on the property.
Tax Management Associates staff members will have the local unit’s assessment record card in their possession at the time of the inspection to ensure timely completion at the property. They do not need to come inside of a home but they may interview the homeowner at the time of the inspection.
Any questions or feedback regarding the audit can be directed to the TMA at (810) 225-7605 or by email at amar@tma1.com
