COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Some Branch County residents are waking up in the dark this morning due to Monday nights windy, rainy weather.
The Branch County Memorial Airport measured a wind gust of 40 miles an hour just before 9:00 p.m.
The Branch County Road Commission had to be called in to take care of numerous reports of downed trees.
According to Branch County Central Dispatch records, there were 19 reports of road hazards between 5:00pm and midnight.
As of 4:00 a.m.Tuesday, Consumers Energy reported 257 customers in Branch County were without power due to the weather.
Outages have been reported north of Coldwater, north of Matteson Lake, west of Bronson and in the area of West Girard and Adolph Roads.
Another 278 customers in Hillsdale County and nearly 1,400 Calhoun County customers were without power.
The utility says on its web site that power should be restored by midday.
