COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Sturgis man was arraigned in Branch County District Court on Monday after he was accused of violently attacking a woman in a Bronson home on Thanksgiving morning.
25-year-old Jose Guadalupe Martinez-Gamez is facing charges of first degree home invasion, assault by strangulation and domestic violence following an investigation by Bronson Police.
Bond has been set at $100,000.
He is accused of allegedly suffocating a female acquaintance after breaking into her residence.
According to a probable cause affidavit, she managed to get away and go to a nearby service station where an attendant was told to call 911.
Authorities say she had red marks and scratches on her neck following the incident.
A District Court probable cause hearing has been scheduled for December 8th with a preliminary exam set for December 15, 2016.
