CENTREVILLE, MI (WTVB) – A Sturgis man was arrested last Friday after the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department says he led police on a 20 minute pursuit that reached speeds over 100 miles an hour.
It was reported that the driver of a Cadillac Escalade was driving through fields and passing people on the right shoulder in Sherman Township at high rates of speed. The driver went through fields during the chase. It ended when the vehicle crashed into a large irrigation culvert which left it partially submerged in water.
The driver was apprehended a short distance away as he was trying to hide in a drainage pipe nearby.
The 33 year old man was lodged at the St. Joseph County jail on several oustanding warrants as well as pending charges from the pursuit.
Deputies were assisted by the Michigan State Police and Sturgis Police.
