COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A long time member of the Coldwater Zoning Board of Appeals who served as the Board’s President has stepped down.
Planning Director Bob Hawley told the Z.B.A. Wednesday night that Gordon Swan had resigned to enjoy his retirement. According to a Google search, Swan had served on the board since 2004.
Coldwater Mayor Tom Kramer’s appointment of Adam Capella to serve out the rest of Swan’s term through May 2029 was approved during last Monday’s City Council meeting.
Dave Sattler, who had been serving as the Board’s Vice Chair, was named the new Chair for the rest of 2026 on Wednesday. Sarah Zeiler was named the Vice Chair.
In other business, the Z.B.A. approved a variance request from Lucky Drive homeowner Daniel Girt to allow for a shed to be within three feet of his house instead of the required ten feet.
They also approved a variance which would allow for two new signs to be installed at the Walmart Distribution Center on Jonesville Road. Plans call for the existing signs to be replaced with two matching low profile monuments at the separate associate and truck entrances.
Officials feel traffic safety would be improved as each is a legible sign so that trucks do not miss the turn or turn around on the road.
