PENNFIELD, MI (WTVB) – The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says they have gotten a report of a jury duty telephone scam involving a Pennfield Township resident.
They say the homeowner is called and told by the scammer that they owe money for missed jury duty and if they don’t pay up they will be thrown in jail and face additional fines and costs.
The Sheriff’s Department says this is not a legitimate phone call nor is business conducted in this matter by the Calhoun County court system.
If you get a call like this, contact your local law enforcement agency. The resident in this particular case made a report with the Sheriff’s Department and was not scammed.
