COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 Thursday to bring forward to next week’s meeting a recommendation to award a bid from Abraham and Gaffney of East Lansing to conduct county audits for the next three years.
The total three year bid from Abraham and Gaffney totaled just over $104,000. The 2016 cost would be over $33,000. Their three year bid was about $28,000 more than proposals submitted by two other firms from Kincheloe and Grand Rapids.
County Administrator Bud Norman said they have worked with Abraham and Gaffney in the past and Don Vrablic motioned to bring the recommendation forward.
Leonard Kolcz and Terri Norris voted no over concerns about the costs. Chair Ted Gordon cast the deciding yes vote.
Norman said $35,000 was budgeted for work on the audit in 2017.
