HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – A two day search for a missing nine year old boy near Hillsdale ended early Friday night when Jace Landon Lyon was found in good health.
Hillsdale County Sheriff Tim Parker says the youngster was located at a residence on North Hillsdale Road less than a mile from where he lives at 6:51pm. Parker says a resident of the home discovered the boy in his house and then called the Sheriff’s Department. It’s not known how long he was there.
Hundreds of volunteers braved the rainy, damp conditions on Friday to look for the youngster who was reported missing by his mother on Wednesday night.
Deputies were assisted in this investigation by multiple divisions of the Michigan State Police, Michigan DNR Officers, and Coldwater Police as well as police from Somerset Township and Hillsdale. Also assisting in the search were the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Posse, the Branch County Sheriff’s Posse, the Allen Township Fire Department, Southern Michigan K-9, and the FBI.
Parker thanked the numerous volunteers, schools and businesses who assisted in the search saying “this is the outcome that can happen when the community comes together to aid one another.”
