MENDON, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say alcohol may have been a factor in a crash early Saturday morning in St. Joseph County’s Mendon Township.
Troopers say 23-year-old Tylre Gaiser of Vicksburg disregarded a stop sign at the T intersection of Silver Street and Michigan Avenue at about1:50am and struck a cement retaining wall along with a boulder.
Gaiser was trapped in his vehicle and had to be freed by the Mendon Fire Department. He was then taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
Troopers say other factors in the crash included fog, a wet road and Gaiser possibly not wearing his safety belt. The crash is still under investigation.
