CALIFORNIA TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A pair of 22-year-olds were arrested Sunday morning in California Township after alleged methamphetamine labs were found in a home on Delmar Road.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation took place after the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department asked for assistance with a driver who had fled from an accident just south of the Michigan-Indiana State line.
Branch County Deputies responded and found meth components in the driveway of the home at 1023 Delmar. Undersheriff Keith Eichler says the alleged meth labs in the home were found after deputies investigated further.
Deputies later found out that a man from Montgomery and a pregnant woman from Angola were living at the residence.
Eichler says the woman had significant chemical burns on both of her arms and hands from the labs. She was taken to the Community Health Center of Branch County for treatment of her burns.
The man and woman were both arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine and multiple outstanding warrants in Indiana. The investigation will be submitted to the Branch County Prosecutor Office for criminal charges of operating and maintaining methamphetamine labs and extradition charges for Indiana warrants.
Branch County Sheriff Deputies were assisted by 911 Central Dispatch and the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office.
