COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) -Coldwater residents who are interested in running for the Coldwater City Council can now get nominating petition and affidavit of identity forms from the City Clerk’s Office.
The filing deadline is 4:00 p.m Tuesday, April 25, 2017 and potential candidates are being asked to call ahead for an appointment.
Candidates have to be at least 21 years of age and a registered elector of the City. If you run for a Council position, you must reside in that ward, be a resident of the City for at least two years continuously immediately preceding the election and you can’t be in default to the City.
If there are more than two candidates running for the office of Mayor, or for a position on the Council in any ward, a Primary will be held August 8, 2017. The General Election will be November 7, 2017.
