COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Bond for a Mt. Morris man has been set at $300,000 after he was formally charged in Branch County District Court in connection with a violent domestic dispute which Michigan State Police says took place as he forced a female passenger to travel with him to Kentucky.
44-year-old Ray Weldon Garrett is facing charges of kidnapping, unlawful imprisonment and domestic violence third offense following a Michigan State Police investigation.
A trooper stopped a vehicle Garrett was driving in Kinderhook Township but a reason for the stop was not listed in court documents. A report stated the woman had a bloody head and also had some of her hair ripped out.
A no contact order was issued on behalf of the alleged victim during Tuesday’sarraignment.
Garrett is scheduled to appear for a probable cause hearing April 6 with a preliminary exam scheduled for April 12, 2017.
