UNDATED (WTVB) – No precipitation is in the forecast in Michigan until Monday and that’s good news since rivers in the area will be cresting over the next few days thanks to the recent rain and Thursday’s melted snow.
While minor flooding and no property damage is expected, you should not get to close to the water.
Some of the rivers are moving rapidly and that may have been a factor Thursday night in the disappearance of a man who fell into the Kalamazoo River in Plainwell.
Despite the efforts of rescue crews, the fast moving water took him away and as of Friday morning, he has not been found.
A flood advisory has been extended for the Kalamzoo River at Marshall until Sunday morning where the stage was a half foot above being at bankfull Thursday night.
The flood warning for the St. Joseph River at Three Rivers until further notice. The river is expected to rise above its seven foot flood stage Friday evening and crest at 7.8 feet around 8:00 a.m. Monday morning. Additional rises are possible thereafter.
