UNION CITY, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Departtment of Transportation says repaving work on M-60 near Union City is scheduled to start next Monday, June 12, 2017..
The repaving of nearly nine miles of M-60 from the St. Joseph-Branch County line east to Eight Mile Road in Calhoun County is expected to last until the middle of October.
M-DOT Assistant Construction Engineer Greg Finnila says the project is designed to improve safety at the M-60/M-66 intersection in the far northwest corner of Branch County.
The $5.4 million investment will include a lane realignment at the intersection of M-60 and M-66 as a right turn lane will be added for eastbound to southbound traffic. This is designed to reduce congestion and give drivers clearer directions at the intersection.
One alternating lane of traffic will stay open under flag control while the work is being performed.
