COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners approved a three year contract Tuesday with the seven members of the Sheriff’s Department who are members of the Command Officers Association of Michigan.
Four of the officers work in corrections while the other three are road patrol deputies.
County Administrator Bud Norman says the contract runs through 2019 and there are wage increases each year.
Commissioners formally approved a pair of staffing requests Tuesday. They approved the hiring of a Sheriff’s Department road patrol officer at the new hire Police Offices Association of Michigan rate of $15.74 an hour. The new officer will replace Deputy David Rumens who plans to retire July 5, 2017.
They also approved a request from the I.T. Department for an intern to work 24 hours a week at a pay rate of $10 an hour. The part time 12 week position will cost the department $2,880.
