COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater City Council is scheduled to approve a draft agreement Monday evening to finance the new aerial ladder truck for the fire department.
Delivery is scheduled for early August on the $1.2 million truck, which is being purchased from Seagrave Fire Apparatus of Wisconsin.
The agreement calls for the city to make annual payments on the truck for ten years.
City Manager Keith Baker says Southern Michigan Bank and Trust has offered to finance the vehicle at an annual interest rate of 2.37 percent.
The Council is also scheduled to take action on ordinances which would establish a single hauler and establish rates for residential refuse collection and disposal. One proposed ordinance would raise the monthly rate for residential pickup by one dollar to $13. It would be $11.75 for seniors.
Baker says the city refuse fund has been operating at a loss for the past two years and there has been no change to the monthly fee for 20 years.
Republic Services of West Michigan has been collecting garbage for the city since 2012. The other ordinance would ban gas fired incinerators as a permitted method of refuse disposal.
