Ronald A. Pifer, 86, of Coldwater passed away peacefully Friday, July 3, 2026 at The Laurels of Coldwater.
Cremation has taken place and no services will be held at this time.
Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Ron was born June 22, 1940 in Coldwater, Michigan to Joseph and Irene (Frederickson) Pifer.
Ron lived a simple life filled with the things he loved most—good conversations, familiar faces, and the community he called home. He spent many years working in local factories and in excavating before retirement. As a longtime resident of Englewood Apartments in Coldwater, Ron became a familiar and friendly face to many.
For 39 years, Ron enjoyed playing softball, where he excelled as both a pitcher and hitter. He was a loyal fan of the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions, loved riding his bicycle, and was a regular passenger on the BATA bus. He made daily trips to Burger King, where he enjoyed visiting with friends and meeting new people.
Ron never met a stranger, and his contagious laugh and easygoing nature could brighten anyone’s day. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting, and throughout his life he had a special place in his heart for animals, especially dogs.
More than anything, Ron will be remembered for his kind spirit, his sense of humor, and the genuine joy he found in spending time with others. He leaves behind many people whose days were made a little brighter simply by sharing a conversation with him.
Ron is survived by his best friend, Jan Baughey, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Pansy Tackett, Floyd Pifer, and Lester Pifer.
Those who knew Ron are encouraged to remember him with a smile, a laugh, and perhaps a friendly conversation with someone new—just as he would have done.
