COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The planned playground for the Naomi Davis Shelterhouse in Coldwater will soon become a reality.
The playground at the safe haven for victims of domestic violence or sexual assault and their dependent children is scheduled to be finished in September. The project at the Shelterhouse was spearheaded by the Coldwater Township Sunrise Rotary Club and the building of the playground was launched through the generosity of Hal Creal, one of the founders of the Club thirty years ago. Creal was also the impetus for the Club’s original involvement in the Shelterhouse with his donation of the house and the land for the facility.
Last month, the Club formally announced details of the funding for the playground project including that Creal had committed to a gift of $12,500 if the Club had made a donation of $25,000, the amount on the check presented at the Sunrise Rotary July 27, 2017 meeting.
Creal says he hoped people would think about the fact that he was really concerned about mothers and children and also asked them to realize all of the things that Rotary has done. Creal said he’s a believer that if you want to accomplish something, you can make much more happen by being in association with people of like mind, as evidenced by Sunrise Rotary.
The money for the playground comes from the Club’s project account, which contains receipts from their two major annual fund raisers, a golf outing and a drawdown dinner event.
