COLDWATER, MI (WTVB)- – Six area youngsters were recently awarded 4-H and Junior Livestock Scholarships.
The scholarship funds will be sent this fall to the college that they are enrolled in.
Kyle Russell from Waldron, who is the son of Michael and Ginger Russell, is among the winners. He is a nine year member of the Boots and Jeans 4-H Club. He will be attending Kellogg Community College in the fall and then transferring to Trine University where he plans to major in Engineering Management. Russell received the $1,000 scholarship from the Branch County 4-H Leaders’ Council and a $550 scholarship from the Branch County Junior Livestock Association.
Jennifer Van Lieu of Reading received a $250 Branch County 4-H Participation Fee Scholarship and an $850 Junior Livestock Association Scholarship. She is the daughter of John and Wendy Van Lieu and is a nine year member of the Kinderhook 4-H Club. Van Lieu will be attending Michigan State University at Glen Oaks Community College and her future plans are to manage her own goat farm and provide goats for 4-H youth.
Zoe Aseltine from Quincy is a 12 year 4-H member in the Helping Hands Club and a three year FFA member. She is the daughter of William and Yvonne Aseltine. Aseltine will be attending Glen Oaks Community College and then transferring to MSU as she plans to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.
Keiayr Modert of Bronson is a 10 year member of the Commanchero’s 4-H Club. He is the son of Matt and Dusty Modert of Bronson. Modert is in Missouri for 19 weeks of training for the US Army/ Michigan National Guard. He will graduate on November 22nd and then plans to attend Ball State University in January to study Criminal Justice and Law Enforcement. Modert received a $250 Branch County 4-H Participation Fee Scholarship and a $550 scholarship from the Branch County Junior Livestock Association.
Allyson Faulkner is the daughter of Jack and Lori Faulkner of Rockford. She is an 8 year 4-H member of the Helping Hands and Happy Hearts 4-H Club. She plans to major in Political Science and Economics at Ferris State University in the fall. She received a $500 Branch County 4-H Foundation scholarship.
Katie Kanouse is the daughter of Bruce and Chris Kanouse of Coldwater. She is a nine year member of the Superstars 4-H Club. Kanouse is attending Kellogg Community College in the MSU Agriculture Program majoring in biochemistry with a minoring in Agriculture. She received a $250 Branch County 4-H Participant Fee Scholarship and an $850 scholarship from the Branch County Junior Livestock Scholarship.
