SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say an unsolved break-in last week at a home in northwest Branch County should be a lesson for everyone on a basic rule for protecting your property from would be thieves.
The residence on Union Lake in the 1300 block of Haughey Drive in Sherwood Township was broken into sometime between 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 15 and 7:30 p.m. Friday, August 18, 2017.
The homeowner left Tuesday morning to go on vacation and returned Friday night when he found his house had been broken into and more than a dozen items had been stolen including weapons, cell phones, computers, electronics, and coins. According to police, the evidence indicates entry to the home was gained when the suspect got inside by using a garage door opener from an unlocked car in the driveway.
Troopers say it’s just another reminder to always keep your vehicles locked. The crime remains under investigation.
